There’s one common theme among women who have really got their fitness act together, and that is that they’re really strong – mentally. Mental strength is what allows them to achieve the levels of fitness that they’re at. But they weren’t necessarily always strong, it comes with time.
From now on, when you work out don’t just focus on working your body, but work on your mental strength as well. You do that by going outside your comfort zone each and every time, and by doing more than what’s expected of you. Doing 3 sets of 15 dumbbell presses? Do an extra rep or two on the last set if you can, just because. Doing 45 minutes on the treadmill? Go to 50 or 55 minutes, just because. Or make your cardio more intense than you had planned, just because.
I’ve just found that doing cardio with my eyes closed allows me to push harder than I could before, so I do it. I always look for ways to be able to do more than I’m supposed to.
When you adopt this attitude of doing more, just because you can, you gradually build your mental toughness to a level that will one day have other women looking at you and wishing they could be like you!
