One of the major keys to success in weight loss and fitness is, as Bob Harper of The Biggest Loser puts it, “being in the game.”
What does that mean?
Well, a lot of people make the mistake of “doing” weight loss, or “doing” fitness, only because they have to. So they try to eat right and work out once a day. But these things always remain unwelcome disruptions to their day, like potholes in the road. Eventually they get fed up and start trying to avoid them.
Being in the game is about welcoming your new healthy lifestyle and immersing yourself in it – making friends with it, and turning it into an interest and even a passion. You can do this by reading fitness magazines, making new friends at the gym, socializing with fitness enthusiasts, interacting on websites and Facebook fitness pages, increasing your knowledge about fitness, and so on.
No one is going to fall in love with working out overnight, in the beginning it’s hard, but by getting into it enthusiastically and welcoming it as part of your life it will eventually grow on you and you’ll be far less likely to quit!
