Weight Loss Relapse

Studies show that the percentage of people who relapse after giving up drugs, alcohol or tobacco ranges between 50% to 90%.  An Oxford University study found that about 80% of people who lost weight regained it, and sometimes more, within 3-5 years.  Research by the National Weight Control Registry says the relapse rate may actually be as high as 95%!

Why is that?

Well, a major contributor of course is going about it the wrong way, by following fad diets, starving, and so on.  But a big mistake so many people make is focusing on the wrong things.  Marketing constantly draws our attention to the latest and greatest workout programs, diets, and home exercise gadgets.  But these things aren’t going to determine your success in the long term.

For permanent weight loss you need to focus on far more influential things, like having a deep-seeded reason for changing, setting good goals, motivating and energizing yourself, improving your beliefs and mindset, letting go of limiting beliefs, making your journey a priority, having a support system, clever planning, and creating a balance in your life.
